Roam Private Game Reserve is located on 5000 hectares of malaria-free scrubveld in the Great Karoo, an ancient and endless semi-desert landscape covering 400,000 square kilometres in its entirety. 

The focus at Roam is on eco-tourism and providing visitors with the opportunity to experience the remote wilderness of the Karoo while participating in a conscious safari experience. There are actually a variety of conservation projects available for guests, and plenty of other activities.  

The team at Roam have introduced a buffalo herd and 3 cheetah into the reserve as part of ongoing conservation projects, and have a vision to work with various experts to restore the biome of the area.

ROAM Accommodation

There are three accommodation options to choose from, each catering for a different type of guest. These include: Roam Explorer Camp, Roam Safari Lodge and Roam Manor House. 

Roam Safari Lodge is ideal for guests wanting a slice of luxury and a stay that includes game drives, walks and more. Roam Safari Lodge has 5 bedrooms housed under a thatched roof lodge and is designed to offer a simple and classic Karoo country experience.  

Roam Explorer Camp is for the adventurous. It is a permanent tented camp accommodating 10 guests in 5canvas dome tents elevated on wooden platforms in a dry riverbed.

Roam Manor House is an exclusive use self-catering house ideal for families and small groups travelling. Game drives and conservation experiences will be at an extra cost. The Manor House is dog-friendly and there are also 4 mountain bike routes available for the sporty crowd.

• The reserve has magnificent flora and fauna. 
• We are home to over 500 head of game including buffalo, giraffe, zebra and 13 species of antelope as well as small predators such as the black backed jackal, caracal, Cape fox and bat eared fox.
